Tooth Eruption Times

On average, deciduous teeth start erupting in the 6th month and complete their eruption in the 30th month. When the eruption process of milk teeth is completed; there are 20 milk teeth in the mouth, 10 in the upper jaw and 10 in the lower jaw. There are 2 milk middle incisors, 2 milk side incisors, 2 canines and 4 milk molars in each jaw.

On average, permanent teeth start erupting at the age of 6 and complete their eruption around the age of 12, except for the 3rd molars (wisdom teeth). When the eruption process of permanent teeth is completed (excluding the 3rd molars); there are 28 permanent teeth in the mouth, 14 in the upper jaw and 14 in the lower jaw. Each jaw has 2 permanent central incisors, 2 permanent lateral incisors, 2 canines, 4 premolars and 4 molars. Around the age of 20 (sometimes earlier and sometimes later), 2 more molars are added to this set of teeth, resulting in 16 permanent teeth in each jaw.
