About the Clinic

Tuna Ağız ve Diş Sağlığı Polikliniği is an oral and dental health clinic on Noter Street in Caddebostan, in the Kadıköy district of Istanbul. It works in two sections: the general dentistry section run by Dt. Şahabettin Tuna sees adult patients, and the children's section run by Uzm. Dt. Duygu Tuna sees children with a paediatric dentist. The two sections share one address, rooms on either side of the same waiting area and a single patient file system.

How we work

Examination first, then the plan

The first visit is for examination. Your complaint is heard, the mouth is looked at with an intraoral camera and a panoramic X-ray is taken if needed. What will be done, how many visits it takes and the options are given in writing; except for acute pain, treatment does not start at this visit. The patient decides with that paper in hand.

Keeping your own tooth

When deciding whether a tooth is saved with a filling, a root canal, or extracted and replaced by an implant, the order is fixed: the option that keeps your own tooth is discussed first. The same rule applies to aesthetic treatment; the method that touches the tooth least is the first choice.

Two sections, one file

Members of the same family of different ages are planned for the same day, in two rooms in parallel. While the child's check-up runs in the children's section, the parent's own examination happens in the room next door. The family file is shared; siblings' and parents' histories live in one place.

Radiology and dose

X-rays are not routine; they are taken when a question needs answering. A digital sensor is used, the field is narrowed to the area in question and, for children, the settings are lowered for age. For implants and impacted teeth, a 3D scan is ordered only when needed.

Sterilisation

Every instrument goes through disinfection, ultrasonic cleaning, pouching and a steam autoclave at 134 °C. Pouches carry a sterilisation indicator and are opened beside the chair, in front of the patient. Single-use items are discarded after every patient.

Information and cost

Health advertising regulations in Türkiye do not permit prices to be published online. The cost of a treatment plan is given to the patient in writing, individually, after the examination. Under the same regulations this site carries no patient images, patient statements or comparative claims.

The dentists

The clinic's founder, Dt. Şahabettin Tuna, is a graduate of Marmara University's Faculty of Dentistry and runs the general dentistry section. Uzm. Dt. Duygu Tuna graduated from the same faculty, completed her specialty in paediatric dentistry and is responsible for the children's section.
