Check-up and Digital Imaging

A six-monthly examination: intraoral check, digital X-ray if needed and a written summary of the day. A record is kept even when nothing is found; the next check-up is compared against it.

Average duration30 minutes

A check-up is the one appointment you make before anything hurts. The dentist assesses teeth, gums, bite and soft tissues one by one; for areas between teeth and under old fillings that cannot be seen, a digital X-ray is taken when needed.

What happens

  • Intraoral examination and gum pocket measurement
  • Digital panoramic or periapical X-ray if needed
  • Comparison with previous records
  • A written summary of the day and, if there is one, a discussion of the plan

An X-ray is not routine at every visit; the date of the previous image and the findings decide.

Why six months

Early decay and gum disease do not hurt. A six-month interval catches most problems at the stage where a small procedure is enough. If the risk is high, the interval is shortened.

This page is general information and does not replace a dental examination. Whether the treatment suits you, and the method and duration, are decided only after an intraoral examination and radiographic assessment.

After treatment

There are no restrictions after a check-up. The next date is given at the appointment, according to the findings.

The information on this page is for general guidance and does not replace a dental examination. Treatment decisions are made after an intraoral examination and radiographic assessment.
