Check-up and Digital Imaging
A six-monthly examination: intraoral check, digital X-ray if needed and a written summary of the day. A record is kept even when nothing is found; the next check-up is compared against it.
DetailsThis is not a treatment but the PLANNING stage of one. Where veneers, crowns or bonding are being considered, it lets you see the shape before the tooth is touched.
The process
- Intraoral scan, photographs and an X-ray if needed
- Planning tooth length, midline and gum margin on the computer
- Fitting the plan in the mouth in a temporary material (a mock-up)
- Looking together in the mirror; judging it while speaking and smiling
- If accepted, on to the treatment; if not, the plan is changed
Why we do not call it "design"
A smile can be drawn on a computer; how much of it can be done in the mouth is set by the tooth's own tissue, the gum and the bite. This stage promises no result — it hands you the decision: with the mock-up in place you can say yes or no, which is no longer possible once the tooth has been prepared.

After treatment
The mock-up is temporary and removed at the end of the visit; do not eat hard food with it. Any changes to the plan are discussed before the treatment itself begins.
