Check-up and Digital Imaging
A six-monthly examination: intraoral check, digital X-ray if needed and a written summary of the day. A record is kept even when nothing is found; the next check-up is compared against it.

The process
- History: when it started, when it gets worse
- Examination: measuring how far you open, listening to the joint, testing muscle tenderness
- Assessing the bite and, if needed, imaging
- A plan by cause: a night guard and exercises for muscle origin, bite adjustment where the bite is the source
- Follow-up: progress is measured, not guessed
Where our scope ends
Some joint problems are outside dentistry — rheumatological disease, fractures after trauma, advanced joint damage. Where such a finding appears, you are referred to the relevant specialist. This page promises no diagnosis; it describes how the process works.

After treatment
Avoid hard, long-chewed food for a while and try not to open too wide when yawning. Do the exercises given regularly; opening is measured again at the review.
